This point can be both considered an advantage and a disadvantage ,so I think it really depends on you and your preferences. Well for me it was considered an advantage, because I love tropical weathers, I love that there is sunshine all year around, that it’s hot and you don’t have to layer up, I loved that I could go to the beach all year long. Not only that, I loved Malaysia’s rain man, the downpour that no umbrella could save you from, but the rain was so warm and good that I always loved walking under it so yes I think you guys get the picture. Malaysia is pretty much the same all year round, it doesn’t get cold and for those of you who hate the cold weather I think it’s an advantage.
Affordable Cost of Living
Well Malaysia’s currency is Ringgit, which is a relatively cheap currency in comparison to AUD, each AUD is approximately about 2.86 Ringgits and that is a really good exchange rate. Student life in JB is also relatively cheap, I wouldn’t say too cheap, as I don’t think anywhere is too cheap anymore, but a student can live more comfortable than other places like even it’s neighboring city like Kuala Lumpur. In my experience on Malaysia piece I wrote some approximate figures regarding the cost of living in Kuala Lumpur, I’m not really aware of the living costs in other student oriented cities in Malaysia but they are certainly cheaper than Kuala Lumpur. I would say with about 1000 Ringgits a month, which is less than 350 AUD, a student can live quite comfortable in JB.

Mount Austin have a nickname so call “Bubble Tea Town”. This is due to the reason that Mount Austin area are surrounded by more than 50 bubble tea shop. Most of the brand are origin from Taiwan such as Black Ball and Gong Cha, they distribute franchise and open branch here. As a student study in Sunway College JB, you will be having the opportunity to taste a lot of different bubble tea. Not only that, you are not be able to finish try out all the bubble tea within one month, in spite of drink a cup per day.

There have a 24-hours restaurant nearby Sunway College JB. The restaurant was own by Indian-Muslin. The restaurant have sell Malaysia’s local food such as “Maggie Goreng”, “Roti Canai” and “Nasi Lemak”. They also have provided broadcast live of the sport competition such as FIFA, NBA and BWC to let the customers to watch while enjoying their meals.

As Malaysia is a multi-racial country, hence it has a lot of festival for us to celebrate. For example, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali, Christmas and so on. As a student in Sunway College JB, you are able to experience different festival atmosphere as college will decorate the campus according to the festival.
Weekend Activities
Austin Height Water and Adventure Park is 5 kilometers away from Sunway College JB. It is a large scale water and adventure park which consists of 3 floors and offer variety types of recreational activities.
Water park is located at the ground floor, it consists of many facilities such as splash world, super surf, rainbow hood, racer bowl, wave pool, lazy river and so on. As Malaysia is a tropical country, water park would always be the first option for summer activities.
Not only that, there is also a small indoor racing circuit beside the ticket office which enable passenger to experience speed and drift.
The second floor is an adventure park and it offer climbing activities. This section is suitable to those people who likes climbing and not afraid of high as it is about 3 stories high.

On the other hand, exchange student is allow to join our basketball team. As they will participate in basketball competition which will match with other universities every year.

Not only that, volley ball is also become one of a popular after-school activity.
Badminton
The exchange students are allow free access to badminton court as need to have a booking in advance.
Ping Pong
Other than that, our campus also provided ping pong table at ground floor. It is based on first-come,first-serve basis.
Dart
Beside the ping pong table, there have a electronic dart board for the students to spend their short break.
Club and Society
We have several club and society in our campus. There are Leo Club, toastmaster club, first aid, accounting club, dance club, community outreach, music club and recreation club.
Music Club
Music club is the place to showcase your talents and meet more people from different courses. Catering for all kinds of music, instruments and campus events, they’re engaging, fun activities that pupils really enjoy.
Dance Club
Dance club is the place that where you can show your passion while busting out your sickest moves. The students can effectively reduce the impact that it has on their emotional wellbeing by moving their bodies in a dance club. Dance club also will participate in some campus events such as freshies night and so on.
Recreation Club
The objectives of the club remain to promote all forms of sports, recreation and social activities through some outdoor activities. Leverage on leisure and recreation, its provided an opportunity to refresh our mind, discover and develop the talents and to make friends during the activities. Recreation club consists of various sports and hobbies such as frisbee, futsal, chess, climbing, volunteering and some outdoor activities.
Accounting Club
Accounting Club is a platform to learn more skills and knowledge to enhance your accounting skills. The Accounting Club is open to all students with an interest in the field of Accounting and aims to introduce students to the many opportunities and careers available in the field.
Toastmaster Club
Toastmaster club which you can standing in front of a large crowd polishing up your soft skills and learning to keep your cool. The toastmaster club can improve students’s oral expression and thought. The most important is develop the confidence and ability to speak in public and foster “Better Listening, Thinking and Speaking” .
First Aid Club
First aid club is the club to provide first and immediate assistance given to any student who suffering from either a minor or serious illness or injury. First Aid club is provides skills or guidance for the student to take some urgent treatment when injured or taken ill.
Leo Club
Leo club is to actively providing their communities and the world with kindness and service. Join the Leo club if you want to improve leadership abilities by participating in social service activities. We have managed to make up a lot of events inside or outside the campus. Recently, we was went to an orphanage home for celebrating Mid-Autumn festival in Johor Bahru.
Fast Food Shop
There are total of 3 fast food shops surrounded Sunway College JB, which are McDonalds, Subway and Domino’s Pizza. These 3 fast food shops required for only few minutes for student to walk out from school to reach there. As fast food shop provided variety choices, fast services and affordable price on meal, hence students always choose to have lunch in fast food shop as it save time and money. Not only that, students are also like to sit there together with their friends to have a discussion on assignment.
