Well Malaysia’s currency is Ringgit, which is a relatively cheap currency in comparison to AUD, each AUD is approximately about 2.86 Ringgits and that is a really good exchange rate. Student life in JB is also relatively cheap, I wouldn’t say too cheap, as I don’t think anywhere is too cheap anymore, but a student can live more comfortable than other places like even it’s neighboring city like Kuala Lumpur. In my experience on Malaysia piece I wrote some approximate figures regarding the cost of living in Kuala Lumpur, I’m not really aware of the living costs in other student oriented cities in Malaysia but they are certainly cheaper than Kuala Lumpur. I would say with about 1000 Ringgits a month, which is less than 350 AUD, a student can live quite comfortable in JB.

After-School Activities
Basketball
In our college, we have our own basketball court and basketball team. If you are a basketball player, you will really enjoy it because our team player is really cordial with basketball.
On the other hand, exchange student is allow to join our basketball team. As they will participate in basketball competition which will match with other universities every year.
Volley Ball
Not only that, volley ball is also become one of a popular after-school activity.
Badminton
The exchange students are allow free access to badminton court as need to have a booking in advance.
Ping Pong
Other than that, our campus also provided ping pong table at ground floor. It is based on first-come,first-serve basis.
Dart
Beside the ping pong table, there have a electronic dart board for the students to spend their short break.
Take a Break at the Courtyard
Sunway College JB’s courtyard consists of around 20 tables and 60 chairs. Student usually use it for assignment discussion, revision, and rest. Sometimes there are also some events held at the courtyard such as charity, games, commercial promotion and so on.
Other than that, there have 4 vending machines placed at the courtyard. Those vending machines sell some drinks, cup noodles, cookies and some sport accessories to entertain students’ need.

Sunway College JB’s Computer Lab consists of 10 instructional labs and a computer cluster lab. The instructional labs are for lecture and student usage and the computer cluster lab is available for all the students which come with first-come, first-served basis. Each computer lab is having a surpass of 20 computers and all the computer had installed some common used software such as Microsoft word, Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Excel and so on.
As for student’s needs, computer lab had also placed two printing machine for student to print, photocopy and scan their document. It has eased the students as majority of student have no printer at home and printing at outside may be expensive.

Sunway College JB’s library classify into 2 levels, ground floor is provided a lot of books which are shelved accordingly with subjects area, the student is allow to take it as an reference or borrowing, and there is also provided some study places for the student who needs a quiet place to do their homework or revision. On the other hand, level 2 consists of learning commons spaces, project room and audio visual corner. Level 2 is usually occupied by the students, who needs to discuss their assignment/homework and also rehearsal for their presentation.

Tasting of Diverse Foods in Canteen
Sunway College JB’s canteen is operating by appointed vendor known as “TY Food.” For the menu and price part, college have some control of that to protect their students. For example, college formulate that canteen vendor must provide halal foods and also set a price ceiling as the price must be reasonable and affordable by their students, even cheaper than the surrounding market.
Canteen offers variety types of foods such as Malay foods, Korean foods, Western foods and so on.

We have our own hostel in front of the college for those non-local student and international student. The hostel is like the apartment. In one unit of apartment have four room and two washrooms. Every room consist of WIFI, air-conditioning, water and electricity, a single bed, personnel study area and a wardrobe.We have two types of room which are single room and twin-sharing room for resident to choose which type of room they prefer to stay.
